Self tapping screws 6 lobes recess DIN 7981, ISO 14585

Thread and pitch

The self-tapping screw with cylindrical head features a continuous self-tapping thread along the entire shank, designed for direct fastening into thin sheet metal, profiles, and light metal materials, after drilling a properly sized pilot hole.

The thread geometry allows the thread to be formed directly in the base material during installation, eliminating the need for pre-tapping and significantly reducing assembly time.

To ensure optimal fastening performance and to prevent damage to either the substrate or the screw, it is essential to respect the correct pilot hole diameter; undersized holes do not improve holding strength and may adversely affect tightening torque and joint stability.

Head type

The cylindrical head provides a large bearing surface and a clean, professional appearance, making it particularly suitable for applications where the head remains visible or must fit into cylindrical recesses.

The 6-lobe drive with central pin is an anti-tamper solution, designed to prevent the use of standard tools and to reduce the risk of unauthorized disassembly.

This drive system ensures excellent torque transmission, minimizes the risk of bit cam-out, and allows precise and controlled installation, even in automated assembly processes.

Description and applications

Self-tapping screws with cylindrical head and 6-lobe drive with pin are available in various material options, including:

  • Case-hardened steel, zinc-plated (white), for standard industrial applications
  • Stainless steel A2, suitable for indoor and humid environments
  • Stainless steel A4, recommended for outdoor or highly corrosive environments

The combination of mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and anti-tamper security makes this screw particularly suitable for technical and professional applications.
Screw length is measured from the tip to the underside of the head.

These screws are widely used in the following sectors:

  • Electronics and electromechanical industry
  • Light metal fabrication
  • Industrial automation
  • Technical furniture and metal structures
  • Applications requiring secure fastening and restricted access for unauthorized personnel
