DIN 968-F self-tapping screws are designed for direct fastening into sheet metal and metal laminates through simple pre-drilling, without the need for pre-threading or tapping operations.
The self-tapping thread, extending along the shank, allows the screw to form its own mating thread in the material, ensuring fast, precise and long-lasting fastening.
For correct installation, careful attention must be paid to the hole diameter: a hole that is too small does not necessarily ensure greater holding strength and may compromise the fastening. Drilling tables provide guideline values; the final result must always be verified according to the technical and mechanical conditions of the specific application.
These screws are primarily intended for sheet metal and are not particularly suitable for die-cast materials or certain engineering plastics.
The pan head with captive washer (integrated flange) provides a wider bearing surface compared to a standard head, improving load distribution and fastening stability.
The increased diameter also allows coverage of clearance holes, making it ideal for “sandwich” assemblies between two sheets. The low-profile design without sharp edges makes it suitable for visible applications, ensuring a neat and professional aesthetic result.
The Pozi cross recess ensures better torque transmission compared to the traditional Phillips drive, reducing the risk of cam-out and enabling more controlled and efficient tightening with manual or power tools.

Thanks to their integrated captive washer configuration, these screws are widely used in:
The screw length is measured from the tip to the underside of the head. Reliable and versatile, they represent an effective solution for sheet metal fastening requiring a wide bearing surface, fast assembly and refined appearance.
